These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bearing. Bearing is operated by Chisel Labs, LLC, doing business as Bearing ("Bearing," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account (including by checking the box to accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy at signup) or by using Bearing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Bearing.
1. The service
Bearing is a voice-first career intelligence service. You sign up on our website, call our phone number, and have a conversation with an AI interviewer. We record and transcribe the call, process it with AI, and turn it into structured career intelligence — including a downloadable Career Memory and related dashboard features — that you can use to better understand and present your career.
We are not a recruiter, a placement agency, an employer, a financial advisor, a legal advisor, a therapist, or a coach. We do not guarantee any outcome, job, interview, offer, or compensation level. The output we produce is intended to help you think and prepare. Decisions about your career are yours alone.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to use Bearing. By using Bearing, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide about yourself is accurate.
3. Your account
You are responsible for everything that happens on your Bearing account. That means:
- Keeping your sign-in credentials and PIN confidential
- Not sharing your account or PIN with anyone
- Notifying us promptly at hello@joinbearing.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account
- Providing accurate information at sign-up and keeping it current
We can suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably believe it has been compromised, is being used in violation of these Terms, or is being used to abuse the service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Bearing for anything illegal, harmful, deceptive, or infringing
- Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your relationship with anyone
- Provide false or misleading information about another person's career, employer, or work history
- Upload content that you do not have the right to share, including confidential information belonging to a current or former employer that you are not authorized to disclose
- Attempt to access another user's account, data, transcripts, or Career Memory
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Bearing's systems, or attempt to breach our security or authentication measures
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, including by sending automated traffic, by overloading our phone line, or by trying to manipulate the AI agent into producing harmful or restricted output
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying models, prompts, or system instructions
- Use Bearing to build a competing product or to train a competing model
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Bearing without our written permission
We may remove content, suspend features, or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
5. Content you provide
You retain ownership of the information you provide to Bearing, including your voice recordings, transcripts, uploaded documents, and anything else you share with the AI agent. By providing this content to Bearing, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, transcribe, analyze, transform, and display that content as needed to provide and improve the Bearing service for you, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have the right to share the content you provide and that doing so does not violate the rights of any third party (including any confidentiality obligations you owe to a current or former employer).
6. Content we generate for you
The structured outputs we generate for you — extracted facts, wins, skills, narrative summaries, the agent brief, the Career Memory, role-fit analyses, and similar artifacts — are produced by AI based on what you tell us. You are free to use them for your own personal and professional purposes, including resumes, interviews, LinkedIn profiles, and career planning.
These outputs are AI-generated and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing them before relying on them or sharing them with others.
7. Voice calls and recording
When you call Bearing, the call is answered by an AI voice agent and is recorded and transcribed for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Our voice agent tells you at the start of the call that the call is recorded and transcribed. You consent to this recording both when you accept these Terms at signup and when you call.
If others around you can be heard on the call, you are responsible for confirming they also consent to being recorded, where required by law.
8. Beta service and changes
Bearing is an early-stage product. Features may change, be added, be removed, or behave unexpectedly. We may need to take the service offline for maintenance, or change how features work, with or without notice. We will use reasonable efforts to give advance notice of material changes that affect you.
9. Pricing, payment, and subscriptions
Bearing offers both one-time and subscription purchases. Current pricing is shown at the point of purchase before you pay.
- Career Foundation (one-time purchase). A one-time purchase. You are charged once, at the time of purchase.
- Subscription. A recurring monthly subscription billed at the then-current monthly price. Your subscription begins and you are charged immediately when you subscribe. There is no free trial.
Automatic renewal. Your monthly subscription automatically renews each month, and your payment method is charged the monthly fee, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us (through our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.
Cancellation. You can cancel your subscription at any time, yourself, from your account dashboard. Cancelling stops future renewals. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current paid billing period; we do not charge you again after that. Cancelling does not retroactively refund the current period.
Refunds. One-time purchases and subscription charges are generally non-refundable. We may, at our discretion, provide a refund or credit in an individual case, but refunds are not guaranteed, and providing one does not obligate us to provide another.
Price changes. We may change pricing for future purchases or renewals. If we change the price of your subscription, we will notify you in advance, and the new price will apply to your next renewal. If you do not agree with a price change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe's terms and privacy policy.
10. Termination
You can stop using Bearing at any time and delete your account from your account settings. Account deletion is processed as described in our Privacy Policy (a 24-hour grace period followed by permanent hard deletion).
We may suspend or terminate your access to Bearing at any time if you violate these Terms, if your use of Bearing creates risk for us or other users, or if we are required to do so by law. Where practical we will give you notice and an opportunity to address the issue before terminating.
On termination, your right to use Bearing ends. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including sections on content licenses, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.
11. Disclaimers
BEARING IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT BEARING WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT THE AI-GENERATED OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE.
BEARING DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL, FINANCIAL, MEDICAL, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. NOTHING WE GENERATE FOR YOU SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BEARING AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OPPORTUNITY, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF BEARING, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO BEARING WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US $100).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN THOSE JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Bearing and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of Bearing
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or the rights of a third party
- Any content you provide to Bearing
14. Third-party services
Bearing relies on third-party services (described in our Privacy Policy). We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of those third parties. Your use of third-party services through Bearing (for example, signing in with Google, or paying through Stripe) is also governed by those third parties' terms and policies.
15. Intellectual property
Bearing, including the website, the dashboard, the voice agent, the underlying prompts and system instructions, our trademarks and branding, and the underlying software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Bearing for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms.
You may use the outputs we generate for you (see Section 6) for your own personal and professional purposes. You may not use Bearing's branding, name, or logos without our written permission.
If you send us feedback or suggestions about Bearing, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback without obligation to you.
16. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Bearing will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado, and you and Bearing consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Bearing website before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Bearing after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them. If you do not accept the updated Terms, your only remedy is to stop using Bearing and delete your account.
18. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Bearing about your use of Bearing, and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in full effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written permission. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights.
- Notices. We may send notices to you by email or through the Bearing website. You can send notices to us at hello@joinbearing.com.
